Safe Search Explained

Safe Search Explained

ScoutDNS supports Safe Search settings to enhance web browsing safety on search engines. This feature helps block certain search terms entirely and removes inappropriate search results, including those from image and video tabs.

Bing Safe Mode

Since not all search engines support DNS-based Safe Search settings, ScoutDNS provides control over your Safe Search settings and behavior.

ScoutDNS supports the following two Safe Search modes:

On: When selected, this option locks Google and Bing into Safe Search mode while still allowing users to access other search engines, such as Yahoo.

Forced: This option locks Google and Bing into Safe Search mode while blocking all other search engines, making it a more restrictive setting.

Alert
Some blocked search domains may cause issues with certain web applications. If this happens, you can whitelist these domains after identifying them in your logs or set your Safe Search mode to "On." You can still allow specific search engines while using Forced mode by adding them to the whitelist.
